Consultant Gastroenterologist

Dr Abhinav (Abs) Gupta is a Consultant Gastroenterologist, General Physician and Interventional Endoscopist at Queen’s Hospital and the Digestive Diseases Centre (DDC) London.     

Dr Gupta completed his undergraduate training from University College London Medical School with distinction. His specialist training was in the London Deanery, including University College and Royal London Hospital. During this time he conducted research on stomach disorders, Barrett’s oesophagus and the treatment of early gastro-intestinal cancer. He carries over 10 years’ experience in Gastroenterology and General Medicine.      

In 2018, Dr Gupta undertook a prestigious Endoscopy Fellowship in Sydney, Australia, gaining advanced skills in therapeutic endoscopy including colonoscopy, luminal and bile duct stenting, enteroscopy, polypectomy, ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound.       

He is passionate about delivering excellent patient care based on current guidelines and best medical practice. Dr Gupta enjoys teaching and training within Gastroenterology – he is a clinical lead for Education and Training at his hospital trust and acts as faculty on national teaching courses. He is also Associate College Tutor for the Royal College of Physicians London.

Dr Gupta has multiple publications in peer-reviewed Gastroenterology journals and regularly presents his work at international conferences.  

Endoscopic procedures:
Upper gastro-intestinal gastroscopy (OGD), trans-nasal endoscopy, colonoscopy including polypectomy, endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), luminal and bile duct stenting, small bowel enteroscopy, endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography (ERCP) and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS). 

Clinical interests:  
Acid reflux, diarrhoea, constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), abdominal pain, bloating, indigestion (dyspepsia), stomach problems, Barrett’s oesophagus, cancer prevention/ treatment, liver/gallbladder/ pancreas problems, endoscopy, coeliac disease and swallowing disorders.
